Fairfield High School for Girls
Tradition. Vision. Learning.
School Council
At Fairfield, all pupils are encouraged to take an active part in the discussion of matters that concern and interest them. The School Council is led by the Head Girl and her team of seven Senior Prefects. These girls are responsible for representing the school on formal occasions such as presentation evenings, carol services and all external events. Two members of this team are the school Games Captains, who assist in the organisation of the annual sports day. Each pupil plays a key leadership role in the life of the school.
A termly police forum is held in the school library involving the local police liaison team. Representatives from all year groups are encouraged to meet and to place agenda items to be discussed at the forum. This opportunity has enabled pupils to express their views about local issues and to be positive about the work undertaken by the police.
A member of the Senior Prefect Team represents the school at the Droylsden District Assembly, continuing a school tradition of care and service in the community.
We see our School Council as playing a key role in promoting pupils' awareness of issues relating to citizenship. In so doing, they are fulfilling an important element of their learning.
